Founded in 1972 in connection with the
College Art Association (CAA), WCA is a national member organization
unique in its multidisciplinary, multicultural membership of artists,
art historians, students, educators, and museum professionals. With fifteen chapters throughout the United States, WCA is dedicated to creating community through art, education and social activism.
WCA is committed to recognizing the contribution of women in the arts; providing women with leadership opportunities and professional development; expanding networking and exhibition opportunities for women; supporting local, national and global art activism; and advocating for equity in the arts for all.
As an NGO (non-governmental organization) of the United Nations, the Women’s Caucus for Art actively supports Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s). WCA utilizes art as the universal language to engage artists, NGOS, and civil society on a broad range of issues such as gender equity and environmental sustainability.
As a founding member of the Feminist Art Project (TFAP), WCA is part
of a collaborative national initiative celebrating the Feminist Art
Movement and the aesthetic, intellectual, and political impact of women

WCA/NH is the New Hampshire Chapter of WCA and a thriving organization with about 100 members. We hold bi-annual members’ meetings and smaller local groups of women artists providing opportunities for advancement of women in the arts via networking, education and exhibition opportunities. The Art Center is an award winning creative community that has over 6,000 square feet of space in a renovated historic mill building at One Washington Street in downtown Dover, New Hampshire. The facility includes: ten artists' studios, a rotating residency studio, a large well equipped printmaking studio, and a stage for music, theatrical performances and poetry readings. At its center, is an airy, well lit, large exhibition space that hosts shows with well attended popular openings. The mission of The Art Center is to significantly promote the creation, display and sale of artwork by its residents, members, and community partnerships, while educating and fostering cultural awareness.

Laura Morrison is a fiber artist residing in New Hampshire. Her work is a fusion of fiber art techniques, such as felting, embroidery, weaving, crochet, and knitting, resulting in a variety of sculptures, assemblages, installations, and wall works. Her work has been exhibited nationally, and she has been commissioned twice to create public art for The NH State Council on the Arts Percent for Art program.
Morrison is the gallery director for Twiggs Gallery in Boscawen, NH where she has curated numerous local and regional exhibitions. Additionally, she has served as a juror for the NH State Council on the Arts. Morrison has holds the position of Past President for the National Women's Caucus for Art from 2020-2022. Gail Smuda is the founder of the Women’s Caucus for Art, New Hampshire Chapter. Starting her career as a painter artist Gail Smuda has been creating limited edition and one of a kind books, often combining book arts and fiber, for the last several decades. Her book works have been included in juried exhibitions in 48 states as well as Ireland and Australia. Smuda is the recipient of two Individual Artist Grants from the State of New Hampshire with retrospective exhibitions mounted at the University of Massachusetts/Lowell and Southern NH University. Her work has been reviewed in Boston Voyager Magazine, Artscape Magazine and Fiber Arts Magazine.

Pickup of work- November 1, 2, 3, from 10am - 6 pm and November 4 10am-2pm The gallery will be turning over and would prefer a pickup BEFORE Saturday if possible.
Shipped work - The Art Center will pack up and return your work as soon as possible after the end of the exhibit.
Members of WCA: $25 | Non-Members $45 payable through ArtCall for up to three submissions.
To participate you must be a self-identified woman artist residing in Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, or Delaware.
Artists working in any media are welcome to enter up to (3) original works. Work must be original and not a copy of previous work. Any atypical installations will require permission of the gallery and the organizers prior to submission. See contact below.
Digital images submitted electronically should be JPEGs only. The JPEG file must be at least 960 pixels in one direction and a file size no larger than 5 MB
Please make sure that submitted images are clear, professionally presented, and accurately represent the work.
Framed measurements may not exceed 50 inches in any direction.
All artwork must be for sale and retail value cannot exceed $5,000.
Gallery commission on sales is 30%. Artists will retain 70% of sale price.
Selected works must be delivered ready to hang/install and the gallery director may refuse installation of work that is not professionally presented.
Artwork misrepresented or considered unsuitable for presentation will be refused.
Deadlines for delivered and shipped works are firm.
Delivery of accepted pieces will only be received during the stated days/hours.
All work must be packaged in a manner that allows the materials to be re-used for return.
Shipped works must be accompanied by a prepaid, return shipment label.
The Art Center WCA, and WCA/NH reserve the right to photograph an accepted work for publication and publicity purposes.
